Long, LONG Drive to San Diego

Day 6 - Friday, June 21st

The alarm went off in El Paso at 4:30 am, and we were off by 5:00 am.

Our drive today was 720 straight through to San Diego.  We passed a lot of cactus.  Sugouro cactus is what Curtis called them.

Who knew the Imperial Sand Dunes were in very Southern California, and I was totally creeped our by the wall build between USA and Mexico.  Reminded me of the Great Wall of China.

That is pretty much what the entire drive looked like, with a few desert mountains popped in there.  The 720 mile drive took exactly 12 hours thanks to a 45 minute delay at California Border Patrol.  The boys started singing "ocean, ocean, o-cean" about 80 miles out, and we bet anyone a penny for the first person to spot the ocean....Cole won!  We exited the highway, and turned on to Harbor Drive!  HALLELUJAH!!!!  One Hundred Harbor Drive!!!!!!

This is what happens when your boys are in a car 12 hours straight....we only stopped to pee and get gas.  I packed pb&j that we ate while driving....Cole turned into Cornholio from Beavis and Butthead!

We unloaded the minivan, and the boys were amazed with the incredible 360 degree view of downtown San Diego!

We are so fortunate to be able to stay in such an amazing condo!!!  The boys couldn't keep their eyes off the view...boats, cars, and TRAINS!!!!  We even watch a helicopter fly by a few times!

I am one happy Mamma!  Check out my awesome hat I bought at the local New Mexico Flying Js!

After unloading, we headed down to the Gaslamp District for dinner.  We must have looked frantic or lost because some nice locals said "I think you're looking for Old Spaghetti House". Perfect!!!!!  Carson got pizza, Cole got Mac and cheese, and we all got ice cream!!!!

After dinner, we headed back to the condo for a swim in the pool and hottub. The flowers were so beautiful and fragrant!  We're going to cook out tomorrow and eat down poolside!

The pool is on the 6th floor in between the two towers!  Amazing!!!

We arrived back at the 37th floor just in time to watch the sunset.  So beautiful!!!! Carson kept saying "all the cars look like toys!"

We can even see the baseball game happening at Petco Park tonight!  That's the beautiful full moon peeking out over the East Harbor Club Tower!

Now it's time for a little Disney Junior and cuddles with the boys.  We have a lot to be thankful for tonight, and tomorrow we visit the incredible San Diego Zoo!  I can't wait!!!!
