Moab

Day 47:  We drove 562 miles to Pocatello KOA, ate Pizza Hut, played on the playground, finished 3 loads of laundry, and took 4 boiling showers to get the lake funk off of us.  Tomorrow, we drive another 400 miles into Moab!!!!

Day 48:  Driving through Salt Lake City on Sunday morning was a great idea!  All the Mormons were at the Temple, so there was NO one on the interstate.  The boys have been working on their God and Me/God and Family Programs for Scouts this summer, so it was very fitting to complete our next section Ina Sunday morning drive through Salt Lake City.  They are both 90% completed with their books!  We pulled into Canyonlands National Park Visitor Center 45 minutes before closing....just enough time for another Junior Ranger Badge.

After swearing in, we drove the 15 mile drive down into the scenic viewpoint where the Colorado River and Green River join together.

Right when we stepped out, the heavens opened up and it started to rain!

So beautiful!

We loaded back into the car and hit the Edge Arch hike.

The boys were so excited to climb on the rocks!

Amazing!  The rain cooled off the desert heat, and it was so beautiful!  Canyonlands added another 50 miles to our 400 mile drive, but what's 50 miles when you e allready driven 5,500 miles? Right?

After Canyonlands, we drove the final 50 miles into the Moab Valley RV Resort.  The boys were so excited about the life size chess board!

We hit the pool and hottub to relax our sore muscles, then went to bed.  Tomorrow.....Arches!!!

Day 49:  Arches National Park is another very populated park, so we loaded up the truck before 8:00 to beat the traffic.  Destination #1....the most strenuous hike in the park....Delicate Arch!

We all set off on the hike in the 90+ degree weather to see how far we could go.

Halfway in, Carson was beat, so Cole and Mommy set off on the face of the sand stone towards the Delicate Arch while Daddy and Carson found the only juniper tree to hide in the shade.

I was so proud of Carson for making it as far as he did, but Cole really surprised me!!!!  He pushed all the way to find the Arch.  This hike is straight up the sandstone hills, and keeps the Delicate Arch completely out of view until you turn the corner....

then VOILA....there it is!

So incredible!!!!!

Cole and I had to stay to get a picture under the amazing Delicate Arch!

I tell you what, Cole is becoming one awesome hiker!

The boys are growing so fast....I just want to hold on to this time in their lives forever.

We raced back down the sandstone cliffs because we knew Daddy and Carson were waiting for us.

We turned the corner and there were Daddy and Carson!  They had made it up another 1/2 mile!

Now it was Curtis's turn to hike to the Delicate Arch while we ate Nutella in the 100 degree shade.

We promised Carson that we would return to Arches when he was 9 to hike the Delicate Arch all together.

We took the windy road back down to the Visitor Center for our final Junior Ranger Badge of Summer 2017.  Arches was our 10th National Park of the summer and one we will definitely return to!  Tomorrow, we head for our final destination, Fun Valley!
