Sing to me, Willie!

Day 24 - Tuesday, July 9th

On the road again....
Just can't wait to get on the road again...

Yes, we're driving again.....I'm super excited to see the Grand Tetons!  I've never been to this part of the country before.  Thanks to out 2 hour packing session last night, we were on the road by 5:45 am!!!!  That has to be some sort of a record for the floathouse.  ItappeArs that our car gets fuller and fuller every stop.  Can you see Cole?

I caught Carson in an action shot pitching pretzels at Curtis....lovely!  We pulled up to the Grand Teton Scenic Lookout at 3:30.  So beautiful!

We really do have an amazing country.  By 4:30, we had driven another 600 miles and arrived to The Aspens outside of Jackson Hole.  We unloaded and Curtis took Blue Magic to the local bike store to fix the two spokes he broke on Schweitzer.  This is the 4th bike store we've had to visit on the trip.   Blue Magic and The BEAST are sure temperamental!

After that, we set off for food and groceries at the local Aspens Market...AKA, "The World's MOST Expensive Grocery Store".  Bananas were $.99 a pound and the cheapest loaf of bread was over $4.00....YIKES... Talk about inflation!!!!

We ended up with a $12.00 Degiorno Supreme Pizza and $8.00 Frozen Cheese Pizza....well, it fed us....we all fell asleep and were out!  We're looking forward to our exciting ventures in the Grand Tetons tomorrow!

Day 25 - Wednesday, July 10

You're not going to believe this.....we didn't set an alarm and we all slept in until 8:00!!!!!!!!!  Crazy, I know....I guess nine days of tight quarters and old beds at the floathouse really did us in.  We had a nice relaxing morning at the Aspens condo, packed some lunches, and were off at 10:00 to explore the Grabd Tetons National Park.  The pictures just do not do it justice.

We stopped by the Visitors Center first, and all the senior citizens rolled their eyes at our crazy boys, so we knew it was time to find a remote place for our boys to run around.

We drove up to Hidden Lake and String Lake to find the picnic area, and all we saw were more senior citizens, so we decided to hike in a little to find a nice picnic place and it did not disappoint!

We found a very remote spot on String Lake.  Jenny Lake, String Lake, and Hidden Lake are small lakes made from the melted glaciers off Grand Teton thousands of years ago, so the water is crystal clear and shallow.  Perfect!!!!!

The boys started their play like this......

And ended like this......

Carson is in mid mud throw and Cole's ducking the slop.  Hehehe, I laugh just looking at it!

We played a little more,

Then it was time for us to see some more of the spots....we did make a mental nite to return here with swimsuits and puddle jumpers after our bike ride tomorrow at Jackson Hole.

There are beautiful sights and scenic turnouts everywhere!  This place really is magical!

We drove up to Colter Bay to check out Jackson Lake and the north side of the park.

I must say I prefer Jenny Lake over Jackson Lake any day....the Jackson Lake Dam seems so obtrusive in the middle of such natural beauty.

We headed back down south on the east side to see if we could spot any wildlife, and spotted some bison WAY out in the distance.

Our last stop was at the beautiful Snake River Lookout where Ansel Adams shot his famous photo of the Grand Tetons.  So amazing!

The boys played and threw rocks for a little, too...we'be been on a rock scavenger hunt since the Redwoods.

We drove into Jackson, found a cheaper grocery store for beer and produce, and ate at a yummy burger joking, MacPhlains.

After that, we returned to the condo for a bike ride to the local playground.

What a great day!  Tomorrow, I'm up bright and early for a sunrise run, then downhill mountain biking at Jackson Hole!  Awesome!!!
