Fun for the Whole Family

Day 28 - Saturday, July 13th

Today started with a giant pancake breakfast by Dave and Sabrina, yum!!!!!  We hung out and relaxed until 10:00, and were off to TINYTOWN!

Carson is the little blur behind Cole.  You can barely see his plaid shorts in the pic...we'll just call him MiniSasquatch.  Tinytown is a fantastic world just a few miles from their place filled with miniature houses....AND...you guessed it, a miniature steam train!

The boys thought they died and went to heaven!

They played and played and watched the train go round.

This was my favorite house...it was donated for a lifetime teacher in the area. Maybe one day I'll get a music note or something dedicated in Frisco...that would be awesome!!!

After playing a bit more, it was time for our train ride.

We waited in line to get on the steamy.

Cole wanted to sit in the front, but Carson was determined to sit in the caboose.

We look giant on that tiny train, right?!

Cole was precious the whole ride shouting back to Carson.

"Carson, are you ok back there?"
Then you hear a little "Yep"

"Carson, were passing over a bridge!"
"Yay"

We had probably 30 other people on the tiny train with us.  The train itself was about 50 feet long, so he was shouting pretty loud, so cute!

After our train ride, Aunt Sabrina treated the boys to a miniature train in the gift shop.  The boys were precious.  Cole kept saying , "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you for this awesome train!"

We drove back to the house for lunch and to set up the train.  The boys played and played for hours with Dave, Sabrina, Tori, and Shawn.....AND.....Curtis and I NAPPED!!!!!!!  Hallelujah!!!!!

We woke up a restful few hours later to Crazy Carson entertaining everyone.

That boy has quite a right kick on the soccer ball!  We loaded up the Carson's went for a drive to see the white buffalo and elk.  So beautiful!!!

After that we drive to the beautiful town of Evergreen.  This is where I'm going to live when we win the lottery!  It's so beautiful here!!!

We went for a little walk them stopped at the local Baskin Robbins for some ice cream!

After that, we returned to the house for fresh baked cookies.

By this time, the kids were all sugared up and it was time for Sabrina's gig with Murphy's Landing, so we loaded up the car and headed for the local bar.

The band was awesome!  We ate pizza, and the kids danced and danced!

Cole even picked up a local girl, Paige....or should I say, she picked him up.

Before we knew it....it was 9:00 and time for the kids to go home, so I pulled Mom duty, brought the kids home and put them to bed while everyone else hung out.

I put the kids to bed and took a little catnap until Tori returned from serving at the bar.  She woke me up at 10, and I headed back to hang out!

When I got back, my Dad's other cousin, Lynn Baker, had shown up to play his sax!

He's the Professor of Jazz Studies at UC Boulder, and was awesome!!!!!!  I can't believe I've never met this guy!  He's great!!!  We all chatted about Music Education philosophies.  I felt totally in my element and loved every second!

Dave and Lynn were totally missing my Dad.

I tried to have awesome "Les" characteristics, but I'm no substitute for him.  My Dad is larger than life!  We love him so much!  I was very complimented by Lynn, though.  He said, "you look a lot like your Mom, but I see a lot of Veal in you....you got our Cherokee nose and face structure from your Great Grandmother....I love seeing that in you". That touched my heart.  I don't have many memories of her, but I know she was a fantastic and strong woman who defeated many prejudices in her life.  I tell everyone I'm part Cherokee, but no one believes it with the curly blonde hair....Cousin Lynn saw it immediately.

Again, the time flew by so fast, and all of a sudden it was after midnight.  We said our goodbyes and drive back to the house.  This day was amazing!  We are so blessed to have such a huge, loving, fun family!  We've had the trip of a lifetime, and cannot wait to do it again next summer!
