Spring Break Jaunt - Stop 3: Tyler State Park

Day 7:  We were up and atom at 5:00 am and departed from the beautiful Emerald Grande by 5:20 am.  We had a 630 mile drive to meet our bffs at Tyler State Park.  The drive from Destin to Frisco is 750 LONG miles, so when we found out the Biscamps and Egerts were travel trailering in Tyler, we said....IN!!!!  So, in true Schettler fashion, we packed super light, but included our 4-man tent, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, and camp chairs.  We ended up using the sleeping bags and sleeping pads at all 3 stops during Spring Break Jaunts.  The boys actually slept in their sleeping bags in the giant master closet at Emerald Grande!   10.5 hours later, at 3:53 pm, we pulled up to Tyler State Park.  We were greeted with iced beer in the cooler and brats on the grill!  We love the Biscamps!!!!

It sure pays off to have 4 Cub Scouts camping with you!  All 4 boys jumped in to set up the tent and unload the sleeping bags.

Afterwards, all the boys immediately set off to fish and play while the adults relaxed.   We had a feast of slow roasted brats and dogs over the fire, peppers, Hersh's Crab Dip (thanks, Mom!), and s'mores!

After dinner, the kids played games in the camper and the adults played Cards For Humanity.  Dylan was so excited to finally be playing games with the adults instead of the kids!  Before we knew it, the sun was down, the s'mores were eaten, all the logs were on the fire, and it was time for bed.

Day 8:  We slept like babies in our tent.  I woke up at 5:30 am to watch the sunrise and dreamed about our awesome summer.  Once the sun awoke, we packed up, played a little football, said goodbye to our friends, and drove the final 120 miles back to Frisco.  We arrived at 12:30 pm, and Cole and Carson's buddy Peyton was knocking on our door to play!  We ended our amazing Spring Break with one final cookout meal with the Biscamps, an evening of Up and Down the River, and Cole got to experience is very first sleepover at a friend's house!!!   To honor our shirts that we got in Destin...."Life is good!"
