Lake Tahoe

Day 15 - This campsite is beautiful and right on the lake!  Curtis and I woke up for a quick 5 mile run/bike around Lake Tahoe.  There are A LOT of homeless here on the California side of Lake Tahoe.   We passed people digging in trash cans, hanging out and sleeping on the bike trail, under trees, and on the beautiful El Dorado Beach.  I'm amazed the city of South Lake Tahoe doesn't have a shelter for this community.  You don't see homeless at all on the the State Line just a few miles away.  Very sad, I hope South Lake Tahoe has a plan to help this needy community.

Well, we returned and the boys were still asleep in the cozy Casita.  We ate a quick breakfast and headed out to show the boys our little Wedding Chapel in Harvey's Casino.

Doesn't look very romantic, but when you step in the chapel magic happens!  10 years later!!!!

Nice work, camera boys!!!  You look pretty cute, too!

We went for a stroll around the Stateline and opted not to take the Heavenly Gondola....$44 a person....you've got to be kidding me!  Curtis and I wanted to find the gallery where we purchased our beautiful photo of "Heart and Soul of Lake Tahoe".  It was no longer there, but we did find a giant blown up print of our exact painting!!!

Ha!  Maybe the original print is worth some $$$ now?!  We knew it was going to be a late night, so we returned to the Casita for naps...yes!  After naps it was time for our Dinner Boat Cruise on MSDixie!

The boys even had a little beach time before we departed!

I was so excited to take the boys out just as we did 10 years ago with all our closest family and friends.

We were super lucky to get the first seating of dinner!

Free champagne at boarding! (Foreshadowing of bad news to come for Mommy)

We had a wonderful 4 course meal...giant ribeyes for Curtis and Cole, Chicken tenders for Carson (and Cole), and salmon for me (note to self: DON'T get the salmon). 😳

We finished off the meal with cheesecake and berries, then hit the top deck for sunset cruise around Emerald Bay!

It was as beautiful as I remembered it!

Soon enough it was time for the band to start, and the boys were so excited to dance with Mommy and Daddy like we did on our wedding night.

They danced and danced and danced until we docked back at Zephyr Cove.  By the time we were back in the car it was almost 10:00 pm and we were all whipped.  What a magical day!  (Unfortunately, Mommy was struck by food poisoning from 3:00-5:00 am....it was ugly....will definitely NOT have the salmon next time)

Day 16 - Ugh!  Not a good night for Mommy!  We sat next to some Lake Tahoe Locals that told us about the Bagel place walking distance from our campsite.  So we had the yummiest Bagel Breakfast Sandwich for breakfast!  It was also time to stock up the Casita, so we hit the local Bargain Grocery and stocked up for the next 7 days in the Redwoods.  After the massive unload of produce, meats, and chips, it was time to HIT THE BEACH!!!

Lake Tahoe is a natural lake, and you can go out 50 feet and still only have the water hit below your knees.  Perfect for the boys!!!

Curtis walked out to the pole in the water and was still below his waste.  It drops quick once you get further out...hundreds of feet deep!

The boys played, dug for diamonds, and looked for clams!

What a beautiful way to end our trip to Lake Tahoe!  Tomorrow, we're off to the Redwoods!!!
