We hitched up at 6:00am, said our sad good-byes, and set off on our way to Idaho. 485 miles later....with a crate of peaches and homemade salsa in hand from Country Mercantile in Pasco, and a very windy and bumpy jackrabbit trail across Washington....WE MADE IT!!!!!
Two full weeks of no driving and all lake time! Wahoo!!!!!!
We unhitched the trailer, hiked in, and immediately jumped in the lake. We told Cole that if he wanted to walk around on the dock without a life jacket, then he needed to pass the swim test right away....even though he had done it in years past....yep! First jump in, Off he went from our dock to the neighbors and back! Way to go Cole! We had a yummy dinner with Laura, Jay, JD, and Austin, a little play time, then set back off for the camper to set up.
The next morning, We loaded up the boat with all our groceries we brought over, and we’re ready for another glorious day at the lake. We had been talking to Carson about passing the swim test all summer. He is at least a year younger than Ellie, Sam, and Cole were when they passed the swim test, but that little bugger is super athletic, so I knew he could do it. 3 hours of wearing that frustrating life jacket, and he was ready! He jumped in and swam to the ladder once, and he was ready! He passed it on the first try! He didn’t fuss or reach for the noodle once, just kept swimming! 👍. Way to go, Carson!
No life jacket for you on the dock! The rest of our amazing two weeks were spent swimming, fishing, reading, tubing, running, biking, and Happy Houring!
The Mommies even showed off their mad waterskiing skills....once!
We even got to celebrate JD’s 7th birthday at the lake!
The second weekend we had a fantastic visit from our cousins Katie, Berkeley, Josie, and Winslow....and.....Greg, Stacy, Royal, Little Randy, and Big Randy! The boys were looking forward to seeing their extended cousins all year!
Thankfully, we had no hatchet incidents this year. We ended our last few days with a bike trip “Riding the Hiawatha” with all the Stobaughs, Schettlers, and Grandma!
20 amazing miles of railway turned gravel trail with 10 tunnels and 7 trestle bridges!
Yes, the Schettler boys were in heaven!
Too soon our two glorious weeks in Idaho had ended and we needed to start our 2,000 mile trek back to Texas. Until next summer, Hidden Bay! 💗
