Glen Canyon Rec Area

Day 11 CONTINUED: We pulled out of Grand Canyon one because: 

1. We had to be at Colorado River Discovery at 7:00 am for our awesome river rafting adventure, so that meant a 4:00 am departure from Mather Campground

AND

2. We were OVER the blazing heat of Grand Canyon

So....we set off for Page, AZ at 11:00 am with fingers crossed hoping for an open spot at a RV Park or else we were parking on the Walmart Parking Lot in Page for the night.  3 hours later we pull up to Page Lake Powell RV Campground with exactly 3 full hook up sites available! YES!!!!!! Showers and AC for the Schettler's!!!! Unfortunately, after we parked we looked at the front window of the Casita 2.0 and it was totally SHATTERED! One of the falling rocks in the canyon must have landed Square on the glass and shattered it. Thankfully, it is double paned glass like a front windshield, so the 2nd pane is still intact. We called Lance, and the part is backordered for 6 weeks, so we are praying the single pane will make it through the 5,000 mile trek we have ahead of us.  

Day 12: I'm going to try to not spend the rest of our trip worried about the front windshield of the camper.  We'll get it fixed.....Oh, I've been looking forward to this day since we planned it in months ago....river float trip down Glen Canyon Rec Area.

We took a bus down to the Glen Canyon Dam, strapped on a hard hat, and set off for the river.

We had an amazing guide, Miss Rachel, who pointed out every step along the 9 mile trip.

Once we arrived to Horseshoe Bay, we hit the shore, saw some 4,000 year old petroglyphs, and jumped in the freezing 47 degree water!

Awesomeness!!!!!!

We loved every second!!!!!

Once we got back to land, we kept on our swim suits and set off for our 120 mile drive to Zion!

Virgin River, here we come!!!!
