Coronavirus Recap

Thanks to COVID-19 Coronavirus, our summer started in Destin, Florida at Spring Break and continued straight on into May.  I guess I forgot to blog about Spring Break.  When the news came that we were not goin back to school face-to-face and would be eLearning, my mind shifted from vacation recap to “how the hell am I going to do this?”  Destin was AMAZING with the family!!!!  Hudec’s, Stobaughs, Schettler’s, Grandpa Jim, and Grandma Becki  spent a glorious week on the beach in total unawareness of what was to come!

Fast forward 3 months of eLearning at home....lots of basketball in the culdesac, practicing horn/corner, a few tears, and lots and lots and lots of fishing with The neighbors.

When we say lots, we fished at the lake, in the pond, and all around Frisco.  We had crappie feasts of deliciousness, both boys caught perch on their fly rods, securing the Fly Fishing Merit Badge and Complete Angler Badge for Cole, and hit a magical school of sandbass pulling in not 1, not 10, not 25, but 57 sandbass!!!!

We even snuck away to Beavers Bend State Park with the George’s for a weekend away from Coronavirus and survived a tornado that rushed over the lake just 1/2 mile north of us.  Everyone was crammed into the concrete bathroom joking, “well, if coronavirus doesn’t get us, maybe a tornado will?!”

We are so thankful for our amazing neighbors!  We had 3 solid months of bonding time, happy hours, and play.

Curtis even managed to pull in the catch of his life!  Check out that Big Mouth Billy Bass!

By the time it was all over, we had learned a little and played A LOT!  I pray when the boys look back on this very scary time in history they’ll remember not the face masks and fear on strangers faces when they sneeze, but fishing, basketball, late nights, and beautiful sunsets.

School finally fizzled out to a slow death and we kicked it off by daily swimming at Grandmas and lake all day!

Goodbye Corona, HELLO SUMMER!
