Hidden Bay, Lake CDA

Day 14:  We hit the road EARLY, and planned to drive as far as possible.  We drove....and drove....and drove....across Colorado, up through Utah, Idaho, and into Montana.  When we hit 823 miles for the day, we called it and pulled into a beautiful free campground at Clark Canyon Reservoire just south of Butte, Montana.

We were so excited to have found this beautiful peaceful campground, then entered our camper and found this......

Son of a &$&@ %#€% #€£¥% %$&#....(too many explicivitives to count).  We had a chip out the front windshield when driving south of Moab on loose gravel highway and Curtis said, “I hope it didn’t hit the camper window.”  Ugh....we just replaced that darn window two summers ago when it was hit by a flying 18 wheeler to the tune of $1,000....GRRR!  We need to figure something else out.  We enjoyed the sunset and hit the hay.  Tomorrow’s another day.

Day 15:  New day!  Broken window...no problem, we’ll keep pushing on.....400 Miles plus a Walmart and Costco stop in Missoula, we pulled into my cousin’s beautiful cabin at a Rocky Point on Lake Coeur d’Alene just befire happy hour to the three smiling faces of Cousins Greg, Royal, and Randy.  Our camper snuggled up just perfectly on their front lawn and we were here!

We are sooo happy to be at the Lake!

Happy 4th of July!!!!!  Happy Birthday, America!!!!

Day 16-34:  Three glorious weeks on Coeur d’Alene.

Our days at the lake go something like this....sleep in, eat a big breakfast, run/swim/hike/tube all day, happy hour, read books, go to bed....lather, rinse (in the lake), repeat.  All the stress melts away....no technology, no tv, and lots and lots and lots of cousin time!

Cole kept up his Personal Fitness Merit Badge Goals by leading strength on the dock for the family and running every other day on th the glorious Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes.  The original rails to trails where the state turned an old railroad into a glorious biking/running trail across the whole 70 miles of the panhandle of Idaho.  Curtis and I were so happy to have a new running partner while Carson rose his bike.

We were greeted every day by the most beautiful birds...pelicans, Gray herons, osprey, Golden Eagles, and for the first time in a long time. Bald Eagles!  They would soar majestically over the lake looking for prey and greeting us everyday.

It’s hard to put into writing how thankful we are to be able to spend this time with our boys and our family.  Our time at the lake was shared with Mom, Laura, Jay, Sarah, Ellie, Sam, JD, Austin, and our awesome cousin’s, Greg, Stacy, Royal, Randy, Ray Lynn, Big Randy, Annika, friends, and the 4 Schettlers....it was a party every day!  Every day’s the 4th of July!!! 🎉. Someone would ask...”what day is it?”  And the answer everyday would be...Happy Birthday America!  It’s the 4th of July...for 3 solid weeks!

The boys played lots and lots of card games...Pokémon, Up and Down the River, and Bridge everyday!

We were also serenaded in the dock by some lovely French Horn scales.

And....daily squirt gun battles withbthe neighbors!

And more fishing....we caught our first Northern Pike!!

Carson also found a new love of Stand Up Paddleboarding!

Our last weekend we were joined by Mom’s little state, Aunt Carol and Uncle Doug from Buffalo.

And ended with a Pirate Party and 5 hours of log rolling for the kids and Derailers at the local marina.

Curtis was dubbed “King Conch” by winning the conch blowing contest and won this beautiful prize for Greg’s Cabin!

We are so thankful for this time with our family and friends!  We love you, Idaho.....and GO VANDALS!!!
