On the road again....to Zion

Day 36 - We loaded up and left the Oregon coast at 4:30 am.  These two back to back drives were the biggest of the whole trip.  We drove 500 miles to the Grand Sierra Casino and RV park in Reno.  When we arrived, we immediately found the pool, hit the Walmart, had a short happy hour, and counted airplanes.

Day 37 - ugh....580 miles more to Zion.  We drove, Carson screamed the whole way, it was awful, but when we arrived to Zion, it was all worth it!!!

Yes, this was the view from our campsite!

We had the best spot in B loop!  B41 was surrounded by Cottonwood trees, so we had shade all day, and we were only 20 feet off the Virgin River.  Us Texans immediately stripped down to our suits and hit the river.

We spent every afternoon at Zion in the river....more pics to come!  After dinner, we went to the 9:15 pm Ranger talk "2nd Star to the Right", about our sun, the next closest star Proxima Centuri, and the North Star.  Cole loved it!  We walked back to the campsite, looked at the beautiful stars and went to bed.

Day 38 - The whole family was exhausted from our 1100 mile two day drive.  We slept in and biked around the Zion Visitor Center. Pictures do not do Zion justice.  It truly is a sanctuary.

We even had a daily visitor to our campsite.

After working on the boys Junior Ranger badge, we took the short drive through the famous Zion tunnel.

5 miles was enough time in the car for me!  We headed back to the campsite for more river time.  I even taught the boys how to float, and we had floating races down the river!

Carson won everytime.  They definitely had the advantage with their lifejackets.

Once the sun went behind the beautiful cliff towers, the temperature dropped!  Time for a campfire!  We ate s'mores, sang songs by the fire and hit the hay.

Day 39 - the alarm went off and we were ready for our day of hiking and exploring Zion.  They have the most efficient shuttle service I've seen yet!  We bikes to the visitor center and took the shuttle all the way up to The Narrows.

Pictures do not do it justice.  Zion is the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

We hiked all the way to The Narrows!

After that hike, we rode the shuttle back down and hiked Emerald Pools.  The boys are conditioned now.  😉

It was super hot, but the boys loved this hike the best!

Zion is a true sanctuary.

After the second hike, the boys hit 4 miles and earned their ice cream at the Zion Lodge across the street.  We rode the shuttle back to the Casita for lunch, naps, river play, and evening Ranger program.  Zion has absolutely been my favorite park.  The giant tower cliffs were all named after Biblical people.....Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  I am so thankful I was able to experience this magical place.

God is good.
